ACT

Welcome to the Free Tour of the castle of MaxTheTest.com. I am the Wiz and will be your host and mentor while you are wandering about.

The Table of Contents lists all the lessons that are available in the full program. Notice a few of them are highlighted. I’ve turned on their links to the course so you can sample some of the activities. I’ve also shortened the highlighted lessons. You won’t be doing the full lesson but you will definitely get the feel for each one.

When you register, you should expect to take from 30 to 50 hurs to complete the full course and all the homework. If time is short do the full lessons for the areas where you are weak. (I think that makes more sense than a short course that does everthing a little bit.!) In other words, you use the Table of Contents to customize your own course.

I know 30-50 hours seems like a lot of time. Isn't your future worth it?

After you finish each selection of this course, you should try your hand at the skills you've learned by completing appropriate sample questions from Getting into the ACT. You can also get a free test from your guidance counselor. It's in a booklet titled "Preparing for the ACT Assessment."

While, in fact, there are dozens of things that indirectly influence your score, they actually influence your confidence and it's your confidence that affects your score. Therefore, everything I say, do or show you is designed to raise your confidence. If you are completing the full on-line course, send me an e-mail from time to time and let me know how your confidence is doing.

Since it a "standardized test," the ACT is one of the most predictable experiences of your life. Throughout the course, I will be telling you what you can expect to see on the test. I will demystify the ACT for you. Pay attention to my Words of "Wiz-dom" and practice the skills. Then your test-taking skills and confidence will soar.

The whole idea of this course is to eliminate surprises on test day by teaching you to think like the test writer. As you go through the course, your confidence will increase because you're going to know what to expect. We will cover the question structure and knowledge base you will need. We'll talk about the way questions are asked and you'll learn strategies to use when you encounter each question type. We'll review the English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning Tests. Don't be surprised when you learn what to do when you can't do the math or don't even know the words! In addition, I used to be a biology teacher. So I'm going to show you how to demystify the Science Reasoning Test too.
